Successful Habits for Students

Back in the University I found a formula that worked like magic for me. I would be remixed if I claim I stumbled upon these magical habits of always getting super high marks and having to study less than others. I first heard them from my late elder brother. He claimed he was a night student, who plays during the day and spend little time at time to study. Many thought he wasn’t a serious student, but the super high marks proved them wrong. These six habits are easy to apply and magical in result. Any student can master and apply and have outstanding result.

Habit #1 - Always answer the question
In life generally, there is no time we are void of questions. We always want to know why. And for students, it will be a sacred crime to live a day without a single question. If you are truly a student, you should have some reason why you came to school. There is something you want to know (learn), therefore, there should be something you want answer for concerning your goal/purpose. If you are a student, you must have dozens of questions, whether it is clarification on exam, assignment, test and research topics. Some find answer to these questions, others don’t.

It is no magic that some find the answer. It is not because they are very bright or smarter than others. It is because they have made it their habit to always find answer to any question their tyro minds can dig up. Make it your habit too and they will start calling you a smart student in no time. If I were you, I will create a question page beside my idea book. Better still you can use the magic of your notebook as your question column so you can always write down questions you have for that subject/course. Make sure you chase down the answers to your questions, using textbooks, discussion, professors/teachers and friends. Make this your habit, do it even if it hurt, it will take a few week, and it will be part of you. Studying will be fun for you, everything will draw all the answers you require closer to you and when you have the answers, you are the smart student.

Habit #2 - Make your Notes your Bible
Your note should be the last thing your see at night and the first you see in the morning. The way you read your bible if you are the Christian type, browse your note the same way. Even if they are 20 courses just browse through them everyday. This is to help your brain update the data and stall them up as backups. Don’t forget, your mind thinks in pictures, what you see often you will certainly remember when you need it most. Now, here is really the interesting part, it will not be hard-work like you might be thinking right now. Once you make it your habit, it is definitely fun. Look at your note after you write them down, take another quick look at them before you go to bed at night and one last look when you are up in the morning.

On the average, most students take a maximum of 5 courses a day. It will not be too much to browse through 5 notes of about 1 of 2 pages at night and in the morning. It is your best way of retaining what you learnt that day. For your mind to make a picture out of the boring letters on your note, it has to look at the letters at least 3 times. And once your mind has made a picture out of your notes, it will be very difficult to forget what you have in your mind as a picture. This why you need to browse your notes just after you wrote them, at night and in the morning.
