Secret to Scoring above 200 in 2013 JAMB:Personal Notes Review
It has long been proven that those super success students who do very well in their studies all have one thing in common. It is a common practise for students who are top performers from elementary school to the highest level of study to review their notes within five hours of taking them. The question any student who wants to be highly successful should ask himself therefore is how often he reviews his notes. Many students only read their notes few days to exam; that is a very bad habit that would not profit a serious minded student.
There are many things that kind of crowd the human mind from time to time. These things range from physical distraction to emotional stress. Therefore, to be an effective student, you must learn to review your notes early enough to grab what you can from what was studied. And doing it over and over again put that knowledge on the front burner of your mind.
I guess you already know that the average human brain only retains 10 percent of what it read and only 50 percent of what it sees and hears. But if the notes are reviewed within five hours or five days the retention rate climbs to above 80 percent. And you don't need a soothsayer to tell you that any student that can retain up to 80 percent cannot be compared to the one that only retain 10 percent. For sure, those who retain 80 percent are super successful students.
Retaining what you read should not be a struggle with this strategy of early and constant notes review. It will save you the stress of trying to cram your way to pass examinations. I know that review and constant review of notes is monotonous and that monotony is boring, but once it is made an habit, it becomes something you have fun doing.
